Se abre la posibilidad de justicia y reparación para las miles de mujeres víctimas de la política de Alberto Fujimori.
El día de hoy, 26 de octubre de 2011, ante la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, durante su 143° período ordinario de sesiones, en cuyo marco se realizó la reunión de trabajo entre el Estado peruano, las representantes de María Mamérita Mestanza Chávez y miembros de la citada Comisión, donde el Estado dio a conocer la resolución de la Fiscalía de la Nación, de fecha 21 de octubre de 2011, por el cual se dispone la reapertura de las investigaciones por la esterilización forzada de María Mamérita y las demás mujeres que en aquella época fueron víctimas de ésta política, tras haber reconocido, además, que éstos hechos constituyeron delitos de lesa humanidad.
La investigación ha sido encargada a la Fiscalía Supraprovincial Penal para lo cual el Fiscal de la Nación, José Antonio Peláez Bardales, ha ampliado la competencia de la misma a efectos de poder investigar la totalidad de ésta práctica en los diversos departamentos del país.
El caso de esterilización forzada de María Mamérita Mestanza, ocurrido en el año 1996, como producto de la ejecución de la política de planificación familiar del gobierno de Alberto Fujimori, lleva 15 años en la impunidad. DEMUS, APRODEH, CRR, CLADEM y CEJIL saludamos dicha decisión y exhortamos a las autoridades estatales a que dispongan de los recursos económicos, humanos y técnicos, a fin de que las investigaciones sean efectivas, dado que estos hechos fueron una práctica sistemática y generalizada que violentó los derechos de las mujeres, especialmente las más pobres del Perú.
