La incursión de las mujeres en los espacios de decisión política a nivel nacional, regional y local, ha encontrado numerosos obstáculos dando lugar a situaciones de violencia política de género. La violencia puede ser física o psicológica, así como ataques a la gestión. El número de casos de acoso y de violencia hacia mujeres en los diferentes ámbitos, especialmente, en los Concejos Municipales, es alarmante.

Podríamos hacer un extenso listado de agresiones y cuestionamientos a mujeres autoridades, que no sólo se dan en nuestro país. Recordemos los ataques a la presidente argentina Cristina Fernández, cuestionada por la prensa, por una supuesta frivolidad. En Cusco, la presidenta de la Asociación de Regidoras, Serly Figueroa, denunció que hay violencia política en las municipalidades de su región. En Ayacucho, la Red de Regidoras indica que las mujeres han sido víctimas de discriminaciones y agresiones por parte de autoridades y funcionarios.

Las agresiones se manifiestan desde la asignación de quehaceres como preparar alimentos –que nada tiene que ver con sus funciones–, burlas, bromas machistas, menosprecio a la capacidad intelectual o asignarles comisiones como el Vaso de Leche, entendido como una extensión de sus roles reproductivos y domésticos en el espacio público.

Estos hechos surgen, por lo general, cuando las mujeres cumplen con su rol de fiscalización o se niegan a ser cómplices de prácticas de corrupción. Por ejemplo, en la municipalidad provincial de Huamanga se suspendió a una regidora por haber denunciado al alcalde por el ocultamiento de información, hecho que el JNE ha declarado nulo.

En ese sentido, las garantías para las mujeres de poder “estar presentes” en los espacios de toma de decisiones, requieren de medidas, acciones y cambios para eliminar los impedimentos y puedan hacer ejercicio de sus funciones sin ningún tipo de presión, coerción o discriminación.
